Anisette Marseille. At the end of the nineteenth century, a severe economic crisis raging in Spain, pushing many Spaniards to seek fortune from around the world. Pascual and Manuel Limiñana crossed the Mediterranean from Alicante to reach Algiers, where a cousin had already installed the work in his bar. Many Spaniards frequented the bar of Limiñana. They demanded the paloma, aniseed-flavored drink of their native Spain! The Limiñana brothers then began to manufacture by purchasing anise flowers and called Crystal Anis. The success was immediate and the adventure began officially in 1884 in Algiers. After Pascual back to Spain and the death of Manuel, Manuel son found himself at the head of Crystal Limiñana. Enthusiast petanque, he was sponsoring many tournaments, Algeria and Marseille. Since 1962, the factory moved to Marseille. Manuel Limiñana had bought the distillery in the Mediterranean and the pottery of Saint-Jean-du-Desert. Cristal Anis is still the flagship product, easily recognized by its hexagonal bottle and orange label that evokes a parchment, it remains the favorite drink of many enthusiasts.
